The Molds Background
Rural mold was the first deck mold developed and released by Kalye. It was named “Rural” to reflect the relaxed and easygoing nature associated with rural regions in the Philippines—an influence that informed its design philosophy. Since its inception, the mold has undergone several revisions in geometry, including changes in nose and tail length, concave depth, and kick angles. The current iteration balances a realistic deck profile with mellow concave and moderate kick inclination, offering a stable and forgiving platform ideal for both technical and casual riding. Upon its release, the Rural mold quickly gained traction for its approachable feel and well-balanced ergonomics—a testament to its thoughtful design and rider-focused development.

Urban mold  is technically our third mold design. The original version was discontinued after its initial release, as it didn’t meet my performance expectations. I named it “Urban” to reflect the busy, high-energy nature of urban areas in the Philippines—an idea I wanted to capture in the board’s feel and responsiveness. After shelving the first version, I went back to the drawing board. A few months later, I decided to rework the Rural mold into a more aggressive variant. Maintaining the same length and wheelbase, I increased the kick angles, deepened the concave, and added sharper dips. This evolution gave rise to the current Urban mold. Its aggressive geometry—combined with the familiar length—delivers a responsive, high-performance ride that sets it apart.
